Online VMware Forum – my thoughts

This was the second online event I have attended in the last few months, the first being the VMUG Virtual event back in January. One of the aspects I enjoyed the most about that event was being able to chat  to many well known and familiar faces from the wider community.

In this recent event there was a lot of focus on the various offerings from VMware  with a good deal of focus on VSAN, NSX, Horizon and vCHS but certainly not neglecting their other offerings.

The live video streams were great and even offered audio translations as they took place.

I really did like the way the website is laid out to give it that intended virtual conference feel.

The expert and technical chats were great (the ones that I could attend) with the experts very willing to offer advice and information where they could. There was plenty of great discussion on SDDC and SRM in the sessions I could attend.

Of course events like this don’t take place without some great sponsors and there were plenty of them (EMC, Trend, IBM to name but a few), this therefore gave the attendee’s access to a great list of white papers and product material.

It was great to see a VMUG having a presence and whenever I passed through there were many new folk inquiring about VMUG and how to become a member.

Speaking purely from a personal point of view, I like this kind of event, while it is not a replacement for the real deal it is a very helpful way to learn about new products, attend useful sessions and gain access to experts in their respective fields without having to make the trip out of the office.

I am looking forward to the next online event!
